Ontario beef and pork producers feeling the strain from China’s ban on Canadian meat products are getting some help from the provincial government.

The government is rolling out a campaign encouraging people to buy Ontario meat and recommending restaurants local meat into their menus.

“The quality of Ontario and Canadian beef and pork products are and always have been ranked among the best in the world,” said Agriculture Minister Ernie Hardeman in a release. “Ontario-produced meat continues to be a top choice during BBQ season.”

The campaign, operating through Foodland Ontario, will include radio ads, recipe books and promotional in-store displays. There are tens of thousands of jobs that depend on a meat industry and the program will run while the provincial and federal governments works to resolve the situation with China.

“I stand with our farmers in the province and those across the country, and I support the federal government’s efforts to resolve this situation,”said Hardeman.
