An artist in England has recreated her childhood living room and her father’s former store in hopes it will help older people who are dealing with dementia.
Dawinder Bansal, who works primarily with women in the East Asian community, invites dementia patients into the recreations and the patients report a flood of returning memories.
A spokesperson for the British Alzheimer’s Society says reminiscence can be a powerful tool for engaging in conversation, reducing stress or anxiety and improving overall well being for someone living with dementia.
