Premier Doug Ford says local medical officers of health have the authority to issue lockdown orders like in March, but adds they’re hoping not to take that approach.

“I can’t rule out anything, like we’be seen before at the beginning of this pandemic, if it needs to be done, we’ll do it based on the advice of our health professionals, advice from the local medical officers and the advice from the local Mayor we have to be collaborative,” Ford told reporters at his daily pandemic briefing from Willowdale.
Commenting on Prime Minister Trudeau’s comments urging leaders not to ease restrictions because of economic pressure, Premier Doug Ford said he’s not sure if the comment was directed at him.
“If he is, I want to thank him for thank him for his ongoing support but we need more support for businesses.” said Ford.
The Premier says cases are headed in the wrong direction world-wide and he’s working with Toronto to move the city into the provincial colour-coded framework on Saturday.
Ontario is reporting a record 1,388 new infections and 15 more deaths. Toronto also set a one day record with 520 cases.
