There is no doubt soccer fans are a passionate lot. So, the betting is that one will spend $5 million to buy the shirt worn by Argentina’s Diego Maradona when he scored the “Hand of God” goal against England in the 1986 World Cup.
Maradona scored two goals during the game, including the one that bounced off his fist. He later said it must have been scored “a little with the head of Maradona and a little with the hand of God.”
Sothby’s says the jersey could actually fetch more than 5 million in an online auction that opens April 20th and closes May 4th.
Diego Maradona died in 2020 at the age of 60.
