FAKE DOUG FORD TWITTER ACCOUNT GETS BLUE CHECKMARK

There’s a second verified Doug Ford account on Twitter but it’s not really the premier’s.
It’s a parody account which recently got a blue verified checkmark along with others that presumably paid the new subscription fee for Twitter Blue.
Previously the checkmarks were given to accounts Twitter verified to be official public figures or high-profile individuals.
Now, under new owner Elon Musk, anybody who pays about $8 a-month can get a blue checkmark.
The premier’s parody account was created in August and uses the same picture as Ford’s real account.
Musk has tweeted any parody account has to include the word ”parody” in both the name and bio.
As of mid-Friday, Ford’s fake account did not indicate it was a parody in the name, but it does in the description.
There’s also a certified parody account of Ontario’s chief medical officer, which was created only days ago.
Experts worry this could create confusion and that some might interpret the information on parody accounts as actually coming for the person.
