A state memorial service will be held in Jerusalem on Monday for former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.

Sharon died Saturday after being in a coma for eight years following a stroke.  He was 85.

Chris Alexander, our minister of Citizenship and Immigration will represent Canada at the service.   Vice President Joe Biden will represent the U.S.

Israelis lined up by the hundreds to pay their last respects on Sunday outside Israel’s parliament building where the former Prime Minister and army general lie in state.
