The day after Bill Blair left his job as Toronto Police Chief he’s announced that he’s getting into the political fray.

In a published interview, Blair says he will be seeking the nomination to run in the next federal election as the Liberal Party candidate in the riding of Scarborough Southwest.

It’s the area of the city where Blair grew up and where he raised his family. It’s currently held by New Democrat Dan Harris.

Blair’s final day as Toronto’s Police Chief was Friday.

He says he has spent his life in public service and wants to remain there. Blair’s career spanned almost 30 years with the Toronto Police Service; ten as chief.

Former CTV News anchor Tim Weber has already declared his intention to seek the Liberal nomination in the Scarborough Southwest riding.
