A Canadian whisky has been named the world’s best.
Crown Royal’s Northern Harvest rye was named “World Whisky of the Year for 2016” by Jim Murray’s `Whisky Bible.`
Murray is based in the U.K. and says when it comes to the top whiskies of the world, Canada is rarely mentioned.
Northern Harvest, which is made in Gimli, Manitoba, is the first Canadian product to win the top prize in his `Whisky Bible.`
Murray says before he announced the winner he tasted over a thousand new whiskies.
He gave the winner 97.5 points out of a possible one-hundred.
