MAJORITY OF CANADIANS LIVING PAYCHEQUE TO PAYCHEQUE

Managing debt is becoming increasingly difficult for Canadians. A new poll finds a third of Canadians including Zoomers have no retirement savings and half are living paycheque to paycheque.

The survey of 2,000 Canadians by accounting firm BDO Canada found that 53 percent have little disposable income. A third can’t afford to pay of credit card balances and 40 percent owe more than 20-thousand dollars in non-mortgage debt.The survey also found that more women are struggling more than men; three quarters of women surveyed can’t save for major purchases compared to 70 percent of men. And a third struggle to buy groceries compared to 24 percent of men.
