She was known as the “Argentine Firecracker” and she brought down one of the most powerful politicians in Washington in the 1970’s.
Stripper Fannie Foxe (as she was also known) was a passenger in car that included an intoxicated Wilber Mills, the chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. Mills was a Democrat from Arkansas, a man esteemed as a pillar of Bible Belt rectitude.
The night apparently began at The Silver Slipper, a D.C. area strip bar. It ended when Foxe jumped into the Tidal Basin, near the Jefferson Memorial after the car was pulled over by police.
Mills died in 1992 at the age of 82.
Fanny Foxe, real name Annabel Battistella has died in Florida at the age of 84.
