Nine Canadian music artists have recorded covers of their favourite Leonard Cohen songs to coincide with Friday’s release of a movie inspired by Cohen’s 1977 album Death of a Ladies’ Man.
The movie is a Canadian-Irish co-production shot in both Ireland and Montreal. It stars Gabriel Byrne as a carousing professor and received Cohen’s blessing before he died in 2016 at the age of 82.
The videos kick off Friday at noon with a contribution by St. Catharine’s Ron Sexsmith on his social media channel.
The movie was written and directed by Montreal’s Matthew Bissonnette and will be available on demand platforms.
