Ontario’s top doctor is pleading with people to get both vaccine doses now after seeing a bit of a drop this past week in vaccination rates.
“So it’s a call for arms, get vaccinated as soon as possible, time if of the essence and the clock is ticking,” said Dr. Kieran Moore, Chief Medical Officer of Health.
Speaking with a sense of urgency, Dr. Moore says the province is keeping a close watch on the vaccination rates among the youngest with just nine weeks until school resumes.
“Only 58.6 percent of those 12 to 17 years of age, and 66.5 percent of those 18 to 29 have had their first dose of the vaccine.”
He points to Australia, Europe and Israel all facing rising infection rates as the Delta variant spreads infecting unvaccinated people.
