A Canadian broadcasting mogul has died.

Allan Slaight passed away Sunday at his Toronto home.

The Cambridge, Ontario-born rock ‘n’ roll radio pioneer and prominent philanthropist funded many parts of the Canadian cultural industry and helped build up Toronto music stations CHUM and Q-107.

He took the helm of Global Television in the 1970s, took over Standard Broadcasting in the 1980’s and, in the early 1990’s, became part owner of the Toronto Raptors.

Allan Slaight was 90.
