He’s now “Sir” Lewis Hamilton. The Formula One driver officially received his knighthood from the Prince of Wales at Windsor Castle on Wednesday.
He was honoured with his knighthood and the resulting title in the 2021 New Year Honours list after matching Michael Schumacher with his seventh Formula 1 World Championship last year.
The 36 year old Hamilton just narrowly missed out on a record eighth title this season after an exciting conclusion to the F1 season in Abu Dhabi this past weekend when Max Verstappen took the title for the first time.
Hamilton will be back to try and break the record in 2022.
