A week into the storm clean up , city of Toronto officials say they’re making headway amid complaints that some streets and sidewalks remain covered in mounds of snow.
“I believe that we’ve covered every street in the city, salting and plowing multiple times,” said Barbara Gray, Director of Transportation Services. “I think there’s an expectation that when we go through and plow, that we’ve cleared the streets down to dark pavement and that is not typically the case.”
Gray says in addition to reporting issues by calling 3-1-1, the city has just launched a new app with GPS, where users can pinpoint the location for the service request.
It’s available for iOS and Android devices and can be downloaded for free from Google Play and Apple App stores.
The city has removed 19,000 tons of snow so far and will work around the clock until the job is done.
