With a week to go until Ontario’s election, Pollster Nik Nanos says it’s NDP Leader Andrea Horwath who’s focussed most on healthcare, homecare and long term care.
These are among the top five election issues for members of the Zoomers advocacy group CARP – A New Vision of Aging.
Nanos told The Morning Zoom with Sam and Jane, the CARP 5 are really important issues.
“Healthcare still tops the unprompted issue that Ontario voters are worried about the most at around 25 (percent),” Nanos explained, “The interesting twist on this is that Andrea Horwath consistently polls the highest in terms of credibility and trust on healthcare issues while (Doug) Ford scores highest on things like jobs, the economy and managing government spending.”
But Nanos also points out the difference in this election versus in 2018 is that the New Democrats have not been able to generate the same amount of excitement that they got from voters when they broke through and formed the official opposition.
Liberal Leader Steven Del Duca is also talking about improving homecare and long term care.
In fact, he’s scheduled to re-announce his plan to take profits out of elder care while in Richmond Hill on Thursday.
