The Commonwealth Games begin next week in Birmingham, England.

Now confirmed the opening ceremony; the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra will share the stage with a band that formed in Birmingham in 1978.

Duran Duran’s Simon Le Bon says he’s honoured to be playing at the homecoming gig.

Other featured acts include mezzo-soprano Samantha Oxborough. She’s a graduate of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and will perform the national anthem with the Birmingham Symphony.

The games will be the first top flight multi-sport event hosted in the UK since the 2014 Glasgow games and before that the 2012 London Olympics.

The games open July 28th and run for 11 days.
