If you’re 65 or older, the high dose flu vaccine is now being made available in Ontario pharmacies.

Justin Bates, CEO of the Ontario Pharmacists Association, broke the news when he joined Fight Back with guest host Jane Brown, on Zoomer Radio.

“The high dose flu (vaccine) for higher risk population, that shot is available now, starting this week, so for those who are immunocompromised or have a comorbidity with other conditions and are over 65 can quality for the high dose flu (shot),” Bates explained.

As always, the high dose flu vaccine is free of charge for Ontario residents who are 65-plus.

As for the regular flu shot, Bates says it will be available by the end of October.

And the new COVID-19 vaccines, produced by both Moderna and Pfizer, are expected to be available by mid to late October.

Experts encourage us to get a flu shot and COVID vaccine at the same time, in separate arms, when available.
