Toronto police say an adult male and two teenage boys have been arrested and charged for allegedly making threatening remarks toward a group of Jewish students at a Hebrew school.

Authorities allege the group attended the Tanenbaum Community Hebrew Academy in the Dufferin-Sheppard area on Thursday and were asked to leave by security, but one suspect made threats at the passing students before leaving.

A 20-year-old, 17-year-old and 14-year-old are all facing charges including uttering threats of property damage, mischief interfering with enjoyment of property and intimidation by threats of violence.

On Friday, RCMP said  it was aware of social media posts threatening the Jewish community in Canada, calling it a time for “increased vigilance” as several police forces in Ontario increased patrols in response to the Israel-Hamas war.

Two command posts have been set up in Toronto’s Jewish community, one at Bathurst and Lawrence and the other at Bathurst and Glencairn.

York Regional Police also set up a command post at the Promenade Shopping Centre in Thornhill.
