Bad Boy Furniture Warehousing Ltd can begin selling off its merchandise Friday after receiving permission from the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.

Documents say sales will happen at the brand’s dozen stores for the first 30 days of its liquidation period.

Following that, some stores will close and consolidate while others remain open.

Under the court order from Judge Herman Wilton-Siegel, the sales must end across the company’s entire network by February 15.

Started nearly 70 years ago by late mayor Mel Lastman, Bad Boy is aiming to restructure under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act.

The Pickering-based furniture company says making the filing was necessary because it’s operating in a ”challenging” economic environment.

Since making the move Bad Boy has laid off a ”small” number of staff and plans further cuts.
