Longtime Liberal MP and former cabinet minister Carolyn Bennett is reportedly going to become Canada’s next ambassador to Denmark.

Currently it’s Denis Robert, who’s been in Copenhagen since 2021.

While the official news is expected this week, city councillor Josh Matlow’s already saying he’s being encouraged to seek the Liberal nomination for Toronto-St. Paul and will soon decide.

The 73-year-old Bennett left cabinet in the summer after announcing she would not seek re-election.

While still MP, she then announced last month she would be stepping down early.

Before politics, Bennett was a family physician for 20-years.
