NORMAN JEWISON, ICONIC CANADIAN-BORN FILMMAKER, DEAD AT 97

The Toronto-born Jewison, who would go on to become one of Canada’s best exports to Hollywood, passed away ”peacefully” on the weekend.

His 24 features received 45-Academy Award nominations and won 12 Oscars.

 One for 1967’s ”In the Heat of the Night.”

 

 

There was 1971’s ”Fiddler on the Roof”

 

 

 

 

”Moonstruck” with Cher and Nicolas Cage in 1987.

 

 

Jewison, a three-time nominee, received an Academy Award for Lifetime Achievement in 1999.
