Sometimes one plus one adds up to – 48!

That’s how many stolen vehicles were recovered as part of two undercover investigations by Toronto police.

It began with one last April into a network involved in drug and firearms trafficking.

Information obtained during that investigation led to a new one focused on the trafficking, shipping and re-vinning of stolen vehicles.

Toronto police say 20 of the vehicles were recovered at a shipper location in Burlington, as part of a joint effort with Halton Regional Police.

Another 20 were intercepted by police in Toronto and Montreal with the help of Canada Border Services Agency.

Five were bought by an undercover officer.

The remaining three were found during the execution of search warrants.

Several businesses in the GTA were identified as where the vehicles were kept and sold before being sent overseas and / or re-vinned, re-registered to be sold here.

Seven suspects face 150 charges total in both investigations.
