Turns out our ancient ancestors may have been as interested in getting high as the generation of hippies that brought cannabis use to the fore.

In an ancient pit in the Netherlands, archeologists discovered a bunch of old bones, dating back some 1,900 years, one of which contained hundreds of black henbane seeds.

The plants grown from those seeds can be used for medicinal or hallucinogenic purposes, depending on the dosage.

The bone was hollowed-out and sealed with a tar plug and appears to be an ancient stash pouch that kept the seeds safe for almost two centuries.

They say the pit, the bone and the seeds indicate that drugs were being used way back then.
