He had a big hand in shaping the creation of popular music beginning back in the 1950s.
Duane Eddy had a number of instrumental hits including the theme for the TV show “Peter Gunn.”
The Grammy-winning artist was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994 and inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame in 2008
Eddy style of playing was noted for its characteristically “twangy” sound and he was in fact known as “The King of Twang.”
He had sold 12 million records by 1963 and once told the Associated Press that one of his biggest contributions to popular music was not singing.
Duane Eddy has died of cancer.
He was 86.
