Independent U.S. presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. says a health problem 14-years ago ”was caused by a worm that got into my brain and ate a portion of it and then died.”
The startling statement is in a divorce case deposition from 2012 obtained by the New York Times.
Two years earlier, the paper report Kennedy experienced ”memory loss and mental fogginess so severe that a friend grew concerned he might have a brain tumour.”
His uncle, senator Ted Kennedy, died from brain cancer in 2009 at the age of 77.
After testing determined it was a parasite in his brain, he also learned he had mercury poisoning, which can cause neurological problems, likely due to eating too much fish.
The son of US attorney general and senator Robert F. Kennedy and nephew of President John F Kennedy says he’s totally recovered from his health problems.
Asked if his health could compromise his fitness to be president, a spokesperson for the 70-year-old Kennedy quipped, ”That is a hilarious suggestion, given the competition.”
Joe Biden, the oldest president ever elected, is 81 while Republican challenger Donald Trump is 77.
