The fight to save the Ontario Science Centre is ramping up.
A Toronto NDP MPP broke through fencing at the Ontario Science Centre before Police blocked the move.
Kristyn Wong-Tam and others were expressing their frustration at the Ford government’s decision to close the current Science Centre saying it’s not fair to the large community it serves.
Meantime, both opposition parties putting pressure on the Ford government to reverse course.
“We are also demanding that the government not put another finger on this building, unless it’s to repair it,” said NDP leader Marit Stiles during a news conference outside the Centre.
Stiles says her party will invest to repair, restore and revitalize the Science Centre and keep it at Don Mills and Eglington.
And if elected Premier, Bonnie Crombie vows to appoint a “special investigator” to look into controversial Ford government dealings, like the closure of the Science Centre and the relocation of some Service Ontario sites.
The Ontario government abruptly closed the Science Centre last week after getting an engineer’s report earlier in the week that laid out problems with the roof.
