Some alarming gun violence stats in new data released by Toronto police.
There have been 24 shooting deaths so far this year on par with previous years with the exception of last year, which Deputy Chief Rob Johnson calls an ‘outlier’ when there was an unusually low number of shootings.
So far this year, Police say they’ve taken 363 guns off the streets and made almost 500 arrests for firearms offences and laid over 2,000 charges.
Tow truck turf wars and shootings involving younger people are also making up an increasing share of Toronto’s gun violence.
