Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s summer campaign circuit will not include a stop at the Calgary Stampede this year, and some are speculating he’s cancelled his appearance due to the recent federal byelection loss in Toronto-St. Paul’s.
Trudeau has not missed a summer visit to the stampede with the exception of the COVID years of 2020 and 2021.
There is no public explanation as to why the prime minister is not attending this year’s event which begins on Friday July 5th and ends on July 14th.
The prime minister’s office announced Tuesday he will be on a four day trip to Washington next week for the NATO summit.
The opposition Conservatives have scheduled a fundraiser at the Stampede this Saturday. Leader Pierre Poilievre is the headliner for the sold out event.
