Canadian-born TV star Alan Thicke is starring in the world premiere of a new musical in Richmond Hill this fall based on a 1950s TV show.
Queen for a Day was a radio and TV game show that is considered a forerunner of reality TV. Contestants had to reveal a heartstring-tugging issue in their lives, and the audience would vote on whose problem would be solved.
The new show features music and lyrics by Linda Barnett and script by Chris Earle, Shari Hollett, and Paul O’Sullivan.
Queen for a Day will open the new Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts on September 26th and play for ten performances.
The cast will also feature several Canadian music theatre veterans, including Blythe Wilson, Lisa Horner, and Denise Fergusson.
