Rosie O’Donnell says she suffered a heart attack last week and is “lucky to be here.” The 50-year-old comedian detailed the experience on her blog yesterday, saying sudden nausea, aches and other symptoms pushed her to do an online search for “women’s heart attack symptoms.” Dr. Suzanne Steinbaum — director of Women and Heart Disease at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York — says women can learn something from what happened to Rosie. She says, “this is a teachable moment for all women to know that heart disease is the number one killer of all women. Even with all cancers combined, heart disease is their number one risk.” Rosie O’Donnell’s was right about her symptoms being linked to heart problems. Tests by her cardiologist revealed an artery was 99 per cent blocked and a stent was inserted.
