The Prime Minister says he is worried about the impact on Canada if US officials can’t agree on a new budget that would halt the so-called “fiscal cliff” that threatens to yank the US economy back into recession. Stephen Harper says Canada could be dragged in with it, and there’s no telling how long it would take to rebound.
But he doesn’t agree that Canada has a worse relationship under President Barack Obama than previous U-S leaders.
Speaking at a Canada-U-S business forum in Ottawa, Stephen Harper says Canada and the US share economies, a border, values, and security, and he has a good working relationship with US President Barack Obama and other US officials
David Jacobson is the US Ambassador to Canada. He says Canada matters very much to the US, and suggests every country probably wishes it would get more attention from Washington.
