In what’s believed to be among the largest studies of transit in the GTA, a new poll finds residents are ready to pay for more public transit if it’ll reduce traffic congestion.
The Forum Research study of 17-hundred residents found six in 10 would be willing to cough up an extra dime on TTC fares.
Asked what kind of transportation they want, three in 10 prefer subways over light rapid transit lines.
Four in 10 would be willing to pay a 5-cent per kilometre toll on the Gardiner Expressway if the money went toward a downtown relief subway line.
