Hot Docs has closed on a high note with record-breaking attendance.
Toronto’s 11-day festival, North America’s largest devoted to all things documentary, marked its 20th anniversary with 180,000 people attending 418 public screenings, up from a previous record of 165,000 people last year.
Chosen by ballots, the Audience Award winner was Muscle Shoals, by Greg Camalier – a look at the soul, rock and R&B musical motherlode mined in the legendary Alabama sound studios.
