Unemployment and the new federal skills training program topped the agenda at the semi-annual Council of the Federation meeting today.
Canada’s provincial and territorial leaders expressed unanimous concern over the Canada Job Grant, which splits 900-million-dollar between employers, the provinces and the federal government.
The plan would also mean the withdrawal of federal funding for provincial skills programs.
Premier Kathleen Wynne says the provinces have a better understanding of what their regions need so they should be the ones designing the programs.
