At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918, the guns fell silent across Europe and for all intents and purposes, the Great War, the so called “War to End all Wars” was over. There were more than 70-million combatants in World War 1. Of the 9 million dead, 60-thousand were Canadian. Today, November 11th, at War Memorials and Cenotaphs across the country, Canadians gather to honour those who fought and those who died in two world wars, the Korean Police Action and more recently Afghanistan, and those who have kept the peace in between the conflicts.
