The Los Angeles Film Critics have added their collective voice to the debate on the year’s best film.
The LA critics were split between the space odyssey Gravity and the futuristic romance Her.
Gravity‘s Alfonso Cuaron was also named Best Director.
There were other dual winners. Best actress honours were shared by Cate Blanchett for Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine, and 19-year-old Adele Exarchopoulos for Blue Is the Warmest Color.
Bruce Dern got to keep the Best Actor award all to himself for Nebraska.
There is no clear favourite so far this year. Five sets of critics have come up with four favourite films: American Hustle, Her, 12 Years a Slave, and Gravity.
But there seems to a consensus developing in the documentary category. The Los Angeles critics have joined other groups in picking Stories We Tell by Toronto’s Sarah Polley as Best Documentary.
