A possible setback in Ukraine.
The country’s president says he may halt a weeklong cease-fire ahead of time – because of continuing rebel attacks.
Petro Poroshenko’s statement comes today – just hours after pro-Russian insurgents in Slovyansk shot down a Ukrainian military helicopter, killing nine servicemen.
Yesterday, a rebel leader promised to respect the cease-fire.
Poroshenko made the move on Friday as part of a peace plan to end two-months of fighting between government troops and the rebels in eastern Ukraine.
In his statement today Poroshenko said the insurgents have fired on Ukrainian positions 35 times since the cease-fire was announced.
