In true zoomer fashion, Hazel McCallion has taken up a new challenge. The 94 year old former Mississauga mayor is serving as a special adviser on strategic development at the University of Toronto’s Mississauga campus.
The university has announced McCallion’s involvement with its Institute for Management and Innovation.
A news release says her duties will include helping to develop a new master’s degree in urban innovation and development and contributing to a new non credit training course for those aspiring to enter public service. McCallion will also appear as a guest lecturer from time to time.
The legendary former mayor says, “I’m looking forward to doing whatever I can, because for Canada to remain competitive in global competition, we have to work hard to prepare our young people to take their position and brain power is going to be the success of our country in the future.”
