Police in Calgary have charged a man with shouting vulgarities at a female journalist – who was covering the bad behaviour of hockey fans in the city.
The man hasn’t been named – and faces a charge of “stunting” under the Traffic Safety Act.
It’s a non-criminal offence which carries a $402 fine.
Three weeks ago, CBC reporter Meghan Grant says she was reporting along the Red Mile – a strip of bars and restaurants popular with Calgary Flames fans – when a man shouted at her from a passing truck.
Grant’s camera recorded the vehicle’s licence plate and officers tracked down the alleged heckler.
The reporter says the man shouted out the same sexually explicit phrase that has become a trend – targeting female reporters.
