NOBEL PRIZE WINNER IRWIN ROSE DIES AT 88

An American biochemist who shared the 2004 Nobel Prize in chemistry has died at the age of 88.  Irwin Rose won the Nobel with two Israeli scientists for discovering a way that cells destroy unwanted proteins. Their discovery was the basis for developing new therapies for diseases such as cervical cancer and cystic fibrosis.   Rose is said to have died in his sleep yesterday in Deerfield, Massachusetts.
