Book lovers will have more options for their next read after the short list for the Scotiabank Giller Prize is revealed at 11am today at the Art Gallery of Ontario. Zoomer Radio’s Michael Kramer will be there to cover the event.
A long list of 12 authors, including Marina Endicott, Patrick deWitt and Heather O’Neill, was announced last month in Montreal by last year’s Giller winner, Sean Michaels.
Their novels were selected from a crop of 168 books submitted by 63 publishers.
The annual prize awards $100,000 to the author of the best Canadian novel or short story collection published in English. Each finalist receives $10,000.
The prize was established in 1994 by businessman Jack Rabinovitch in honour of his late wife, literary journalist Doris Giller.
The award gala will be hosted by Rick Mercer on November 10th.
