Calling it ”humbling” and ”an honour,” Vic Fedeli has been elected interim leader of the Ontario Progressive Conservatives after Patrick Brown resigned amid sexual misconduct allegations.

The 61-year-old MPP from Nipissing and the party’s finance critic the last five years, Fedeli says the caucus is also asking Brown to take a leave of absence while he defends himself.
In the meantime, he adds ”We need to focus immediately on Kathleen Wynne and the Liberals.  There is no time to waste.”
Hours later, the party’s executive committee announced there will be a leadership race prior to the election in just over four months and Fedeli can run if he wants.
The interim leader has already said he will, and fully expects to lead the party into the election.
”This will be a very aggressive time frame, ” said party president Rick Dykstra.
”This party, at the end of the day always stands united, always stands focused, and I can assure you that when this is finished, before the end of March, we will be ready to take on government in June 2018”.
