The International Lake Ontario-St. Lawrence River Board, the bi-national body responsible for managing water outflows on the lake, says record-breaking wet weather and not poor water management was to blame for last spring’s flooding.

A report released yesterday concludes that natural weather factors came together last winter and through the spring to cause the worst flooding along the shores of Lake Ontario and along the St. Lawrence in a 100 years.

The City of Toronto closed off access to much of Toronto Island Park because of the flooding last spring.

The ILOSR controls the water flow out of Lake Ontario through dams near Cornwall. Ontario and Massena, New York.
