Oakville is the latest GTA town to say it’s not really interested.
Oakville Mayor Rob Burton says if he’s re-elected next month, he’ll recommend that his town opts out. In doing so, Oakville would join Richmond Hill and Markham in announcing they too don’t want bricks and mortar store sales when they become legal April 1st.
Mayors and municipal officials from across the province are gathering in Ottawa this weekend for the annual meeting of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario. Premier Doug Ford will also attend and is expected to be grilled on marijuana and other issues of municipal concern.
