The Ford government says it’s creating the Mental Health and Addictions Centre for Excellence, which will help build a co-ordinated treatment system.
Health Minister Christine Elliott says the centre will serve as the foundation on which ”Roadmap to Wellness” is built, cutting wait times and improving services.
The province will also provide access to cognitive behavioural therapy — ‘Mindability’ — a first-of-its-kind program in Canada.
The goal is to provide cognitive therapy or talk therapy to 80,000 with depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorders and other issues in the first year of the $20-million program when it launches this spring.
