Toronto’s mayor has launched a social distancing campaign, showing him in a number of pre-COVID 19 pandemic photos; up close with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, former Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion, Raptors’ star Kyle Lowry and fully clothed in a municipal pool with a bunch of children.

“This is meant to be a bit lighthearted but to get across a very serious message,” Mayor John Tory explained, “This social distancing has to take on a more serious part in people’s lives if we’re going to slow down the spread of this virus.”

Mayor Tory says even with people you like and want to hug like your kids and loved ones, try to keep a distance of 2 metres between everybody, including on the sidewalks and in the parks.

Tory says if we don’t do this, there are going to be grave consequences to it.

Mayor John Tory has announced on Friday, a 60-day grace period to June 1st for City of Toronto property tax, water and solid waste utility payments for all residents and businesses.

Late payment penalties for residential and business properties will be waived for 60 days, to reflect these relief measures.
