Fans get a final chance to say farewell to a Canadian TV icon tonight when Alex Trebek appears on Jeopardy for the final time.
It’s the last episode of Jeopardy the Sudbury-born, Order of Canada member, taped before his death in November from Pancreatic Cancer.
To mark the occasion, the Academy Of Canadian Cinema and Television has made public Trebek’s taped, but never-before-heard, acceptance speech of the Academy’s Icon award. It wasn’t aired after COVID-19 scuttled the live awards show last March.
During the speech, Trebek spoke of pride in Canada and the country’s accomplishments in education, business, science, the arts and entertainment which he added, we do bilingually.
Alex Trebek died two months ago today. He was 80 years old.
