Two of the four candidates looking to succeed Steven Del Duca as Ontario Liberal leader have come up with a plan both hope means Mississauga mayor Bonnie Crombie does not leave city hall for Queen’s Park.

Liberal MP and former provincial cabinet minister Yasir Naqvi and Liberal MP Nate Erskine-Smith have agreed to ask supporters to select the other as their second choice.

”I’m going to be marking Yasir second because I think, I hope we win, but I tell you, if we don’t win, I hope Yasir wins,” said Erskine-Smith standing alongside Naqvi.

”I know that he’s going to set us up for success by setting the right direction for our party. And I know together we are going to build this party in a way that is going to rebuild the party, ready to rebuild our province.”

They’ll also co-ordinate election weekend get-out-the-vote efforts.

Party members are to cast votes through ranked ballots the weekend of November 25-26.

The winner will be announced December 2.
