THE BEATLES OWN THE 1964 MUSIC CHART

Those screaming teenage girls in black and white footage of The Beatles’ 1964 ‘invasion’ are all in their 70s now – and probably still love ‘The Fab Four’ – as I do too. It was in early April 1964, when the Beatles took over the music charts with a greater domination than anyone else in the 20th century – including all five in the Billboard Top Five, and many more further down the chart.  I’ll bring back powerful memories of a magical time by playing every one of the Beatles charting songs from that April in that ‘Year of Beatlemania’.

I’m also spotlighting Terry Jacks, who’s turning 80 this week. The BC recording artist gave us one of the biggest Canadian hits of all time with ‘Seasons in the Sun’, along with many more songs as part of The Poppy Family and as a solo star.   Please join me for all these musical memories and ‘The Sunday Sock Hop’ as well. That’s when we dig into the best of the Fabulous Fifties and the Sensational Sixties.  That’s all on the next Vintage Favourites this Sunday (March 31) 2:00-4:30pm.
